The Chicago Hounds beat the Vikings 20-8 today in 6 innings just before the lightning and thunderstorm took over the north side of Chicago (reminding us of Nolan’s homer in the gloaming v. the Vikings at Taft a few years ago).

No K’s Dugout today after 2 losses
The Chicago Hounds did not appear at K’s Dugout today, after spending 6 hours at an intermittently rainy baseball field at Winnemac Park only to lose both games of a split doubleheader. The Hounds are now 9-9 on the season after losing to the Browns 7-6 in extra innings in the first game and losing to the Aviators 8-6 in the second.
Good start to the weekend
The Chicago Hounds play a split doubleheader today at Winnemac: 12:15 pm v. the Browns and 3:00 pm v. the Aviators. The Hounds started the weekend off well by defeating the Trojans 17-0 at Winnemac yesterday. It was not a Garcia-family slaughter this time, as the Hounds scored 9 runs in the top of the 7th inning to put the game away.
Alec Reinke (#14, P) was the star of the day, pitching a masterful complete game for the win, while striking out 12 Trojans. 12 strikeouts out of 21 total outs! Reinke also did significant damage with the Charlie’s collective bat, as he reached safely 4 times on 3 singles and an error.
Burch hit a home run
Hounds and fans, Matt Burch hit a home run at Southwest Park today. TJ owes him Kuma’s.
The Hounds have three games coming up this weekend with a makeup game at 3 pm on Sunday.
Happy Daddy (Father’s) Day!

Hounds Split DH at Walther
The Chicago Hounds split a doubleheader v. the Orioles at Walther Christian Academy today. Both scores were 5-3, the second game (and the Hound victory) took 8 innings instead of the regular 7.
Former Hound Jake Tedlund got his 3rd win v. the Hounds with the victory in game 3. The Hounds scored 3 runs in the first (the first 3 batters all scored), but they never tallied another run in the rest of the game.
Hounds have best win of 2019!
The Chicago Hounds are now 6-5 after a spectacular 2-1 win over the Electrons tonight at Winnemac Park. The play was outstanding on both sides, but the Hounds came out with the victory.
Hounds are back to .500
The Chicago Hounds are back to .500 (5-5) on the 2019 CMBA season after losing to the Yankees 7-2. The Hounds won the season series 2 games to 1 v. the Yanks, but were unable to complete the sweep.
Opener becomes starter?
Was it that Alec Reinke (#14, P) finally found an umpire who would call his ridiculously moving and just-so-difficult-to-follow pitches as strikes? Was it the first appearance of pickles on the bench (albeit, not Clausen)? Was it the fact that the Yankees just aren’t that good?
