Darkness Delivers Umpireless Hounds Win

Hounds baseball returned to Winnemac on Tuesday night with a herald: Joe Clark, of local Jazz group Arcana, led the game off with a fantastic rendition of the Star Spangled Banner. However, a somewhat more necessary crew member, the umpire, did not make an appearance for the game requiring quick improvisation. The teams reached an agreement to have an out-of-the-lineup team member arbitrate the game from behind the mound during their team’s offensive half of the inning, and arbitrate first base calls during their defensive half of the inning. Rained Out

We made it through 1 inning before the rain came and turned Maywood into mush. Makeup scheduled for July 15th at Winnemac.

CMBA Baseball in 2020

Let me start by saying I hope you and your loved ones have been able to successfully and healthfully navigate these uncertain times. Although the statewide and nationwide quarantines have been difficult, it seems to have been effective in preventing the worst of outcomes.

I wanted to inform you that with the Illinois governors extension of the stay-at-home, the 2020 CMBA season has been delayed. While the news probably doesn’t come as a surprise to anyone, it’s also not the way we visualized opening day during the offseason. It’s been a rollercoaster of a spring. The kind of rollercoaster that you ride in the living room, watching reruns and eating gummy bears, in your sweatpants.
