The Hounds defeated/lost to/tied(?) the Pirates at Veterans Memorial Maywood Park today (I actually have no idea of the score, it was a scrimmage). The field was underwater at 9:00 am, so for the second occasion this April the Hounds worked to get the game in by working the land. 5 full bags of quick dry and a lot of raking did the trick (well 4+ full bags, quite a bit was deposited in the back seat of my car). It was a blustery day, as the wind was really howling in from centerfield, making every fly ball an adventure (just like the Cubs/Diamondbacks games the last two days). Hounds scrimmage
9 Chicago Hounds defeated 6 Winnemac Electrons 8-7 today in a 5-inning dual-squad scrimmage at Winnemac Park. It was cold and windy, but it was a sunny and beautiful day at the shared home field of the Trons and Hounds.
Hounds 2019 Regular Season Schedule
Hounds and fans–attached is our 2019 regular season schedule.
1 game short
The Hounds finished the 2018 CMBA season 1 game short of the playoffs. The Hounds needed to defeat the Aviators to secure second place, but were bested 11-2. The Hounds also lost to the Browns 20-3 and beat the Yankees 13-0 in the final week of the season.
Hounds lose, but still control their destiny
The Hounds lost 10-9 to the division leading Browns today at an awful Proviso West field, but despite the loss the Hounds still control their destiny for the playoffs. If the Hounds can win their final three games (v. the Browns, Aviators, and Yankees), the Hounds are definitely in the playoffs.

Hounds win 1-0
Write up from Matt Burch:
The Hounds topped the Pirates 1-0 today, led by a hangover and newly engaged Tim Riggenbach.
As the Hounds faithful know, Tim pitches his best with a slight headache and a bac sitting in the .06 – .10 range, which was the case today. Riggenbach was “PHENOMENAL” on the mound as noted by commissioner/Pirates manager Jeff Papadopolopoditis posting a 4 hit complete game shutout.
Final 5 Hounds games
Hounds fans:
Only 5 games to go in the 2018 CMBA season and all possibilities are alive:
– Hounds win all 5 = first place and a bye
– Other scenarios with Hounds losing 1 or more games = second place
– Other scenarios with Hounds losing 1 or more games = wild card
– Other scenarios with Hounds losing 1 or more games = no playoffs at all
Yes, we could be first, second, wild card, or not in the playoffs at all. Our fate is in our hands if we win all 5, but anything short of that requires some help from other teams losing.
Come support us in the final 5 games!
Great game, great win, Hounds keep playoff hopes alive
