Tuesday night the Chicago Hounds (12-13) fell 2-1 against the Southwest Marlins at Southwest Park. Future Hounds manager Tony “I’m the manager, what I say goes” Correa got a taste of what it’s like to control the helm in a rare Matthew Steffens absence. The game was called by first-time-seen-by-the-Hounds umpire, Lieutenant Brian Stevens (USMC 41st Battalion) – who I personally believe did a nice job.

The Hounds nearly completed a bottom of the 7th comeback victory at Southwest Park on Tuesday, leaving 4 runners in scoring position (DiCola always considers himself in scoring position, even while batting).
The Hounds lost to the Electrons 7-3 today at Winnemac Park, pushing the season series and the K’s Cup Championship to July 27. K’s Dugout made brats and cheeseburgers for fans and Hounds and Electrons, and it was quality food at a very reasonable price (free).
Last night the Hounds’ first priority was preventing a forfeit as they were struggling to get enough players to Maywood on a Tuesday night. But after fighting traffic and picking up Nelson Bowers (#48, 1B) at the final green line stop, the Hounds had enough for a full squad literally just one minute before game time. Scorekeeper Nick Ingram (#36) showed up ready to play despite his broken wrist, just to help the team have enough to avoid the -2 point penalty for a forfeit. Baseball is definitely a team sport, but a team truly relies on individuals such as Nick.

The Chicago Hounds were swept in the 3-game season series with the Browns today by a score of 3-1 in a rain/lightning/thunder/darkness-shortened-6-inning affair at Winnemac Park. The game was tight the whole way, but the Hounds just ran out of time (and daylight).
The Chicago Hounds defeated the Pirates 5-1 today behind sparkling defense and the third straight complete game win in a row from Alec Reinke (#14, P).
The Chicago Hounds beat the Vikings 20-8 today in 6 innings just before the lightning and thunderstorm took over the north side of Chicago (reminding us of Nolan’s homer in the gloaming v. the Vikings at Taft a few years ago).
The Chicago Hounds did not appear at K’s Dugout today, after spending 6 hours at an intermittently rainy baseball field at Winnemac Park only to lose both games of a split doubleheader. The Hounds are now 9-9 on the season after losing to the Browns 7-6 in extra innings in the first game and losing to the Aviators 8-6 in the second.
The Chicago Hounds play a split doubleheader today at Winnemac: 12:15 pm v. the Browns and 3:00 pm v. the Aviators. The Hounds started the weekend off well by defeating the Trojans 17-0 at Winnemac yesterday. It was not a Garcia-family slaughter this time, as the Hounds scored 9 runs in the top of the 7th inning to put the game away.
Alec Reinke (#14, P) was the star of the day, pitching a masterful complete game for the win, while striking out 12 Trojans. 12 strikeouts out of 21 total outs! Reinke also did significant damage with the Charlie’s collective bat, as he reached safely 4 times on 3 singles and an error.
