The third game in as many days became the third win in as many days as the Hounds stunned the Electrons with a walk-off of 7-6 win Thursday at Winnemac Park.

Accompanyied by African dance music for a majority of his outing, Eric “Full Psycho” Frontzak, started on the hill and had a marathon day, chucking 116 pitches over 5 innings, holding the Electrons to 3 earned runs while whiffing 6. 

The game was scoreless until the third when a Electrons lead-off walk and an error became a pair of runs thanks to a double on the leadoff hitter’s second trip to the plate. On the day, four of the Electrons’ six runs started as walks or errors, something the Hounds will look to tighten up going into the playoffs. After a silent Hounds frame, the Electrons tacked another on in the fourth. Responding in their half, Bandi (LF), Albanese (1B), and Riggenbach (RF) each singled. The momentum looked to turn as Bandi attempted to score on Riggenbach’s single and was tagged out at home, but the astute umpire called a fielder interference on the Tron’s third baseman, awarding the team their first run. Playing small ball, Phil Zelenka (EH) advanced the runners a space on a productive out, Matt Steffens (2B)  moved them one more space for an RBI, and Atticus Conway (3B) moved them another space on a ROE for another run. The score stood tied.

However, their opponent did not allow any rest, and in a fifth inning two out rally, converted a single and a pair of walks to two runs and then for good measure, tacked on one more on a Winnemac skating grounder. Brian Lehman responded with a ground rule triple blast to right and was brought around on a Rondon groundout, putting the score at 6-4. Atticus made an usual relief appearance in the sixth, holding opposing batters to 2 hits and no runs.

The bottom of the seventh saw the Doggos at a two-run deficit, twice the deficit as the previous night. The inning started when Atticus Conway took a full count to a walk. Owner, head coach, and starting power forward Tony Correa (C) swatted a line drive single to keep things moving. After a flyout, Colin French (CF) drew another full-count walk and Rondon slapped a hard ROE ground ball for the first run. Facing one out and the bases juiced, Japheth Bandi lasered a liner into right field scoring the man on third. Flying around third, French headed for home, taking the plate easily for the win.

Joined by their vocal supporters (Emma, Melanie, and Anne), the team celebrated at K’s Dugout with a bucket of fried rice, an amount fit for an army. They will face their rivals again on Saturday morning at Winnemac.
