Hounds Offense, Season End

The Hounds 4-game streak of double-digit offense ended Tuesday night, along with their season, succumbing to a 8-0 loss at Baseball alley, their first nil-game since May 22nd.

The Electrons scored two in the first off opener Brian Lehman, all they would need for the win. The Doggo offense just couldn’t get anything going, managing six hits, none of which came with runners in scoring position. The opposing pitcher flooded the strike zone, requiring 72 pitches at a 78%-strike clip.

Lehman managed no earned runs, but suffered 2 unearned. Starter Della Romano entered to face the second time through the order and the majority of the game, surrendering 2 earned runs, and 1 earned.

The Hounds’ best chance came in the fourth inning. After singles by B Lehman and M Burch, P Rondón reached on an error to load the bases. However, a sharp grounder led to a double play that kept them scoreless.

Arron Kruse came in to close, but fell victim to the long ball, with Tron twin homers the only allowed hits and runs.

Although there was a gut-check two-out single by T Riggenbach, the Hounds 2024 campaign ended with a whimper, going 1-2-3-4.

Post-game, teammates did enjoy a smattering of commiseration drinks with supporters. They will meet next for the annual Houndies event, at K’s on a date and time to be determined.
