Despite backing by specialist Alec Reinke (#14) and two late rallies, the Hounds were held to a tie Tuesday night due to no one being able to see anything by the time 8th inning was completed. Reinke, the spindly righty, set out to prove he could hold his own against teams not in the basement of the CMBA, and by holding the talented Browns squad to 3 earned runs he delivered. The Hounds continued to exhibit the qualities of a great team, coming back several times in the game, but with the help of a few errors and a rules mishap in their favor, the Browns were able to steal a tie.

The Hounds used their keen eyes well in the first inning scoring on free passes, probably in tribute to hamstrung Brian Lehman (#2), who was not in attendance. The Hounds carried the 1-0 lead until the second, when some self-inflicted damage (BB, HBP, E) lead to a Browns 4-run inning. The Hounds would respond in the next half inning on a double-single combo by dueling MVP candidates Nick Schmidt (CF, #23) and Arron Kruse (3B, #11), respectively. In the fifth, Aidan French (SS/P, #12) took advantage of his ROE by stealing second base putting himself in scoring position and the 3-batter/4-batter duelists would strike again, this time on an ROE-triple combo, respectively, scoring French and Schmidt. Maxwell Kiefer (1B, #99) stayed hot, notching an RBI on a hard hit ground ball to score Kruse capping the 3-spot. After allowing a tying effort in the bottom half of the inning, the Hounds regained the lead in the 6th following a long line drive double by Nick Ingram (EH, #36), who implemented a clutch hitting tip from Garrett Eddy (DNP, #17) and was brought around by a TJ Rinaldi (RF, #1) single and an advancement granted by a Phil Zelenka (2B, #21) ground ball. The Browns half of the sixth started with a pair of singles. The next batter hit a soft line drive to Zelenka, who deftly threw the ball to first base to double up the runner. Unfortunately, an infield fly rule had been called and the umpire followed up with a dead ball call (a rule misinterpretation) allowing the first base runner to be safe. The Browns would tie the game later in the inning. French would be lights out in his two innings of relief work and neither team was able to score in the two twilight innings. The final score was 6-6.

With the tie, the Hounds secured a 2020 play-off berth for the second year in a row. The Hounds continue their quest for the first seed Thursday at Maywood against the Vikings.
