The Hounds beat the Aviators for the third time this year, with today’s score a commanding 12-4 win. The Hounds are trying to secure a playoff spot with a second place finish in Division B and their two main rivals are the Aviators and the Pirates. With today’s win the Hounds have secured the all-important tiebreaker v. the Aviators.
Tim Riggenbach (#8, P) filled in as the pitcher today, but he did much more than fill in. Instead, Tim pitched 7 solid innings for the crucial win, and only faced 1 batter over the minimum in the last 4 innings. A fantastic performance from the mustachioed lefty with a fine new haircut.
The Hounds offense was led by (as always) Anthony Correa (#13, C) in the leadoff spot, and Nelson Bowers (#48, DH) in the 2-hole, reaching safely 6 times combined. TJ Rinaldi (#1, RF) reached safely all 4 times at the plate, Nick Schmidt (#23, CF) and Matt Burch (#6, 1B) both scored twice, and Matthew Steffens (#5, SS) had 3 RBis with a double, single, and a run scored. Aidan French (#33, 3B) also added 3 RBIs and a run scored.
On the defensive side, Dave Cary (#44, 2B) had some spectacular plays at second base–and the Hounds are now 2-0 with Mr. Cary in the lineup. (They are also 3-0 when Nelson’s sister attends.)
The Hounds play the Division A leading Red Sox tomorrow at 12:15 pm at Maywood. See you there!
